A Declaration, or Ordinance, of the Convention of the State of New-York, passed May 10, 1777, offering free pardon to such of the subjects of the said State, as, having committed treasonable acts against the same, shall return to their allegiance.

broadside, measuring 10 x 7 3/8 inches, formerly folded, now flattened, paper somewhat tanned, some foxing and a few spots, else very good.

Text in two columns. "Whereas divers of the subjects of this State, have been seduced from their allegiance to the same, by the arts of subtle and wicked emissaries from the enemy, and prevailed upon by various and delusive promises, to leave their wives and children, and join the army of the King of Great Britain, in direct violation of the great duties they owe to their country, their families and posterity " The declaration offers a fixed time period for which those guilty of treason may swear allegiance to the State of New York without penalty. Signed Extract from the minutes Robert Benson, Sec'ry. Evans, who saw no copy, calls for a colophon naming Samuel Loudon of Fishkill as printer, however the broadside was issued without colophon.
